I have been a Methodist Minister for 28 years after a brief career in retail management with WHSmith and Scripture Union Bookshops. Following my initial ministerial training at Hartley Victoria College in Manchester, which included a Theology Degree, my first appointment took me to Sheffield for 5 years. During my time in Sheffield my wife and I explored a calling to overseas service and consequently spent a year of further study in Birmingham before serving for 4 years with The Methodist Church Kenya. We returned to the UK and took up an appointment in Reading where we remained for 14 years.
I have been in this current appointment in the Sankey Valley Circuit for 4 years, the last 3 of these as the Superintendent Minister.
I'm also a husband to Sheila, a qualified and experienced counsellor, a father to three grown up sons, and a life-long Leeds United supporter.
I like a challenge, and over the years have fulfilled life-long ambitions to qualify as a scuba diver, do a sky dive, run the London Marathon and climb Mount Kilimanjaro. I'm not sure what's next!
